Pendant l’assec (l’eau est partie), j’ai réalisé une première série de photographies de la vallée rendue à l’air libre. Une seconde série (reconduction photographique) a été prise une fois l’eau revenue avec les mêmes points de vue. J’ai ensuite créé des nouvelles images où les 2 mondes coexistent, celui de la surface, et celui du fond du lac. La transparence piège le perception, laissant découvrir les profondeurs de l’eau. Les échelles visuelles se télescopent, interrogeant le spectateur sur la réalité perçue. la surface du lac est ici traversée d’un plongeon dans le passé. Les scientifiques nomment cette frontière séparant eau et air : « Surface libre ».
